A look at SAMA nominees 2018
Its the SAMA season yet again and industry heavyweights were gathered together at Birchwood in Ekurhuleni last thursday to uncover the nominees.
Top contenders boasting with three nods each were South Africa's duo Mafikizolo, Xhosa singer Simphiwe Dana and MiCasa.
Another group that is ahead of the pack is MiCasa with Best Dance Album, Best Produced Album and Best Engineered Album (with Familia)
Xhosa singer and song writer Simphiwe Dana also thrives with three nominations for Best Live Audio Visuals, Best Jazz Album and Best African Artist.
Other artists who walked away with nominations on two categories each are as follows:
Distruction Boys: Best Engineered Album for Gqom is the Future and Best Collaboration for Omunye.
Kwesta: Best Collaboration and Video of the year for Spirit featuring Wale
Riky Rick: Remix of the year for Buy it Out and Best Hiphop Album for Stay Shinning.
Rouge: Best Hiphop Album for The New Era Sessions and Music video of the year for Arumtumtum.
Shane Eagle: Best Hiphop Album for Yellow and Music video of the year for Let it Flow.
Mobi Dixon: Best Remix for Lake by Ocean and I Got You (same category)
Princekaybee: Best Produced album and Best Dance album for I Am Music.
Shekinah: Best Produced album and Best Pop Album for Rose Gold.
Benjamin Dube: Best Contemporary album and Best Audio Visual Album for Victory in His Presence with Benjamin Dube.
Zoe Modiga: Best Jazz album and African Artist album for Yellow the Novel.
Instrumentalist Nduduzo Makhathini:Best Jazz album and Best Engineered Album for Ikhambi.
Nominees in the top five categories of Male Artist of the year, Female Artist of the year, Duo or Group of the year, Newcomer of the year and Album of the year will be announced in tbe next month.
